About

The Evolution of the Athlete is a coach education program run by UQ Sport, a not-for-profit organisation wholly owned by the University of Queensland. The aim of the program is to provide coaches with skills and knowledge that can be applied to all areas of coaching including athlete management, training and administration.

The program consists of the annual Evolution of the Athlete Conference, as well as an ongoing seminar series that covers a variety of topics.  Anyone involved in team sports, sports coaching, exercise, fitness or training would benefit from attending either of these events.

Evolution of the Athlete conference

This two-day sports conference brings together some of the country’s leading coaches and speakers to explore issues and topics relevant to coaching and sport in Australia. The conference provides an excellent opportunity for anyone involved with or interested in coaching to network with other attending coaching and industry professionals.

As the conference is non sport-specific, you benefit from a wide variety of views and opinions from across the industry. Skills learned at the conference can be applied not only to coaching, but to other business areas as well.

Master classes are held pre and post the conference and provide the opportunity to focus on specific issues in more detail.

Evolution of the Athlete seminar series

This seminar series is held at the University of Queensland at St. Lucia and focuses on topical coaching issues, sports industry development, and the ongoing professional development and education of trainers and coaches.

The format complements the conference program and gives you the opportunity to hear from some of the leaders in the sports and coaching industries.
